We're excited that Love out loud is able to be back to a full week of ministries and worship services this year! Whether you are just starting with LOL or have been serving for several years. It all starts with a basic commitment. Love Out Loud doesn't happen without your help, and even if you've never been a part of ministry like this before, you have nothing to worry about. There's a spot for all ages, and no specific skills are required. Ministries will happen all week, but you can find a place to serve for even a few hours. So are you ready? Each LOL regular work day begins at 8 a.m. at Northcrest Baptist Church multipurpose building with a light breakfast. Grab some food and a name badge, and you will find tables set up with signup sheets for the different ministries that will happen that day. Each table is hosted by team leaders that can answer questions about their ministry before you sign up. You may have kids with you and you want to do something together, or you may have a group and you would like to stay together at the same ministry for the day - this is the opportunity find what fits you. At 8:15 a.m., we start a short assembly and a time to reflect that we are serving not for a church, not for a city, but for Jesus. After closing in prayer, we scatter out to the different ministry locations for the day. Around noon, you will be provided lunch delivered according to where you signed up for ministry. All ministries will finish up at different times, but most are finished by 3 p.m.
A Love Out Loud shirt is the recommended dress, but not required. If you don't have one, wearing any kind of red or grey shirt would be a helpful substitute, because if you are working in an area as a group, it's easier for you and your team leaders to keep up with everyone in the LOL shirts. Some ministries will be outside in the heat, so it's always a good idea to bring some sunscreen, some work gloves, and possibly a towel. Bring a cooler with water or your favorite sports drink, and stay hydrated if you are working an outdoor ministry.
Childcare is provided at Northcrest from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. for children age 5 and under. Let us know in ADVANCE if you need it by checking the childcare box when you sign-up online. Childcare is over at 2 p.m., so you will need to leave your ministry site early enough to pick-up your children.
You may be someone that has a desire to help, but you can't participate in a weekday hands-on ministry for various reasons. If so, visit lolmeridian.com/donate and see other ways to participate by donating goods for distribution. Most importantly, we can all pray that LOL will be fruitful in the work of showing the love of Jesus to those He came to seek and save!
Now that you know how to get going, if you haven't already, make the commitment and sign-up for ministry online at lolmeridian.com or at your participating church. We don't need to know specific dates you can work, just that you are willing to work by providing us some basic information like name and cell number, and if you need childcare.
You may have someone you meet during the week ask what this is all about - don't be afraid to tell that LOL is several area churches working together. Invite them to the next worship service at the Temple Theater, and build a relationship to witness. Although we serve as a united body, don't be hesitant to invite them to your own church and follow up with them after LOL.
